1.Here today the topic for summarizing revolves around Quality, Ethical and Information Technology Controls within the realm of the creation of both the Golden Age Hospital and Community Clinic. To tackle this series of questions, the first item on the agenda will be Quality Control to which five core organizational competencies and functions will be defined and a scoring method for compliance will be implemented. Along with this, a review of JCAHO (TJC) competencies will be provided under this same heading as they apply to quality.
Moving forward from quality will be a review of Ethical Issues, more specifically, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), how this applies to both facilities and how it will be monitored for compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Lastly, Information Technology will be discussed; this will include a brief overview of the proposed organizational structure as well as the major components of an IT system that will best fill the communication needs between organizational units. While discussing IT, a review of the system components required to maintain HIPAA compliance will also be provided. This will be followed-up with recommendations that are expected to contribute to the success of the organization.

The Golden Age Hospital will seek to earn Joint Commission on Accreditations of HealthCare Organizations or JCAHO. This organization is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on quality and currently evaluates and accredits more than 22,000 healthcare facilities (About Us, n.d.). In addition, the team had developed core organizational competencies and functions that will be delivered to the staff. In addition, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) will be evaluated and applied to many areas of the hospital. One of these areas is the IT system the team chose to install throughout the new facility. Choosing the correct system electronic medical record system to deploy through the facility the team needs to ensure they not only consider the care needs they are seeking to be met but also that the system meets all of the federal and state standards and policies prior to purchase and install.
