Proposal for Solving Problematic Cross-Cultural Contacts
- Write a proposal for solving problematic cross-cultural contacts in a hospital. Write the proposal as if you were presenting it to a hospital board, a medical doctor’s office, and Child Protective Services (discuss each one separately). Carefully consider the systems of health and healing involved. What do you think would be the best solutions? You will need to consider the emic and etic perspective of illness and disease. Suggest at least three different things that could be put into place in the hospital, in the doctor’s office, and Child Protective Services that would prevent the miscommunication disaster between Lia Lee’s family. Also, how is ethnocentrism involved in each of these scenarios.
